Presidential Race and Digital Marketing

First off, I’ve been a Hillary supporter for years–ever since I saw her speak. I thought she was amazing. (though I’ve not been too happy recently to look at my caller ID to see Hillary on the phone multiple times a day. ) And I was also not too happy to see the NYTimes article about how she did not have control and mismanaged her campaign staff. Still, I’m not comfortable with Obama–I don’t think he has enough experience. He seems like a nice guy, but being a nice guy does not make for a good president (think Jimmy Carter). And the argument that he’ll surround himself with staff that is knowledgeable doesn’t make me feel any better–that staff was not elected. And all of this feels a little too much like women bashing to me. People hate her. And you ask why. Because I just do. So what do I do? Do I vote for Obama even though I don’t think he can do the job? Right now John Edwards is looking pretty good.

But the point of this is not who I’m going to vote for. The point is that what Obama has done in terms of digital fundraising is just amazing. He has given people an opportunity to make a difference.  He has made a $25 campaign pledge feel like it means something. And in the age of digital advertising, my kids know about Obama and Hillary–even my 7 year old knows who they are. And why is the only woman who has ever run for office called by her first name.
